v2026.10.5

v2026.10.5

AI agents and tools can read these release notes as plain Markdown.

OpenClaw 2026.10.5 refreshes the sidebar, adds saved versions and Undo to Skill Workshop, and lets people read published conversations at their normal chat links.

This release covers 2,250 pull requests, 411 direct commits, and 637 contributors.

The sidebar brings larger agent lists into readable rows, with search and pinning to keep the agents you use within reach. Subagents and Processes panels sit beside the parent conversation, so you can check delegated work, inspect recent command output, or stop a task without losing your place.

  • Delivered messages stop showing false sidebar and Inbox warnings when an earlier send remains unconfirmed. #168090 Docs · Thanks @steipete.

Skill Workshop 2.0

Skill Workshop lets you review how a learned skill has changed and use Undo to restore an earlier version. Its library brings editing, version comparisons, and archive/restore into the same place, so you can inspect and revise the procedures your assistant learns.

Background learning sends conversation and tool content to your configured model provider and can add usage charges. Choose Off to stop background learning and unused-skill cleanup; you can still request learning with /learn.

Workshop editing, learning controls, and saved versions

Existing Auto and unset automatic-learning settings are preserved. Legacy proposal modes move to Off, and a setting already changed to Off stays off until you change it. The library keeps up to ten saved versions; new sessions pick up skill edits. Supported unused-skill cleanup archives skills after 30 days and is disabled for Codex. Restoring pre-upgrade proposal history requires its matching backup; pending proposals are exported inactive.

  • Skill Workshop saves learned procedures directly, with change history, saved versions and Undo. #161057 Docs · Docs · Docs · Docs · Docs · Docs · Thanks @obviyus, @steipete, @RomneyDa.
  • Skill Workshop is guided to learn repeatable procedures and direct personal facts to memory and repository-specific knowledge to project docs. #167404 Thanks @obviyus.
  • Workshop brings learned skills, their files and change history together, with clear ways to undo changes, restore versions and manage archived skills. #167440 Docs · Docs · Thanks @obviyus.
  • Older saved skills with long names are visible and manageable again. #167639 Docs · Thanks @obviyus.
  • The Workshop migration retires approval-first settings; its later correction preserves Auto while older proposal modes move to Off. #167641 Docs · Docs · Thanks @obviyus.
  • Skill Workshop shows configuration-load errors with Retry while keeping the skill library available. #167656 Docs · Thanks @steipete.
  • Doctor preserves Auto and unset automatic learning settings; legacy proposal mode and settings already changed to Off remain off. #167846 Docs · Thanks @obviyus.
  • Saved Skill Workshop versions show their own descriptions and include metadata changes in comparisons. #168001 Thanks @steipete.

A published conversation now opens at its normal chat address. Anyone with the link can read the transcript without signing in; signed-in readers use the same link with their existing permissions.

Review the conversation before publishing. The link exposes existing and future user messages and final replies to anyone who has it. Redaction is best effort, and turning sharing off cannot recall saved copies.

Conversation links, access, and public sharing

Deployments behind a login proxy need the public-reader route setup, with private app and API routes kept protected.

  • Long shared-conversation titles and messages avoid broken characters where shortening crosses an emoji boundary. #141240 Thanks @hugenshen, @obviyus, @xialonglee.
  • Opening session sharing no longer waits for unrelated session display refreshes after a model catalog change. #165344 Docs · Thanks @steipete.
  • Published conversations use their normal chat address for anonymous read-only sharing, with optional publication of eligible X work sessions. #166049 Docs · Docs · Docs · Docs · Thanks @steipete.
  • Signed-in token/password users can reload, bookmark and open chat links in new tabs without an extra login click, preserving drafts and presentation parameters. #166783 Docs · Docs · Thanks @steipete.
  • Refreshing accessible conversation links shows loading while access is checked instead of briefly claiming the conversation is unavailable. #167097 Thanks @jacobtomlinson.
  • Sharing requests recheck current permissions and conversation identity before returning a public link. #167504 Thanks @steipete.
  • Session-link guidance explains which renames preserve bookmarks and when moving to another agent requires a new canonical link. #167586 Docs · Thanks @steipete.
  • Public chat links reach normal session lookup and login handling after Gateway startup instead of a false temporarily-unavailable response. #167604 Thanks @steipete.
  • Returning signed-in proxy users can open conversation links without a public-reader or login flash. #168007 Docs · Thanks @steipete.

Conversations and workspaces

Recovery fixes help interrupted chats resume after restart and return delegated results to the parent conversation. Stop also reaches a request's running commands and queued follow-ups, while long chats need less repeated preparation before replies and searches.

Save work before lowering managed-worktree limits. Cleanup can remove local changes, including in nested checkouts, and recovery snapshots are best effort. Manual --max-lines trimming permanently deletes removed transcript text without a backup archive.

Models and local runtimes

Model selection and sign-in recover through more credential and connection changes, and local runtimes get setup and tool-use fixes. Google and Vertex add Gemini 4 Argon, while Google also adds Gemini 3.8 Flash.

Rerunning Google API-key setup chooses Argon as the primary model, so check that choice if you want to keep another default.

Channels and calls

Replies, media, progress cards, and queued follow-ups reach the right Slack, Telegram, Discord, and other conversations through more reconnects and handoffs. Phone-call tasks can carry a brief, accept instructions during the call, and return an outcome report.

The first import of an old Telegram message queue skips entries older than 24 hours, including unprocessed ones. Review anything you still need before importing.

Installation and maintenance

Installers and updates recover through more interrupted handoffs, while Doctor and Gateway startup give clearer recovery steps when preparation fails. Scheduled workspace cleanup no longer stops unexpectedly on paired nodes.

Downgrading across SQLite schema 24 → 25 requires the matching pre-upgrade backup; restoring it loses later writes. Preserve the original data and follow Doctor's intermediate-upgrade guidance for retired state formats.

Existing Kubernetes deployments with a read-only root need a writable cache when updating the image. See the container setup guidance.

Security and privacy

Approval and delivery fixes keep delayed requests tied to the person and conversation that started them. More diagnostic output masks credentials, and graphical pairing keeps them out of launcher arguments.
